The Crown Letter Project participated at the Photo Days»» in Paris in August, is currently part of Photo Days at Fondation Fiminco until November 28, 2021 and is part of Bienale Sur»» Centro Cultural Córdoba. The Crown Letter also was exhibited at the Institut Français in Kyoto as part of KG+.

Katja Stuke und Stefanie Pluta arbeiteten seit März 2020 an einem gemeinsamen Projekt, das den Austausch von Bildern, die Thematik des Foto-Archivs und den Gebrauch sozialer Medien verhandelt und reflektiert. Irritation und Ungewissheit sind Gefühle die unseren Alltag begleiten, die Einschnitte in unser gewohntes Leben sind längst neue Normalität geworden. Die Welt verändert sich mindestens genauso schnell, wie das Virus sich verbreitet.
Es gibt neue Verhaltensformen und Änderungen im Stadtbild. Und was macht das alles wirklich mit den Menschen?

The Crown Letter

The Crown Letter is a participative project created during the lockdown. It is an open platform for free expression of women artists, wherever they are in the world. It is a weekly contribution, a cartography of the intimate over time and space, offering a meeting place for a community of subjectivities. The Crown letter will be released every Tuesday. Cry Alex

Katja Stuke‘s video work Cry Alex (2019) features two crying women of different nationalities and ages simultaneously presented as a diptych on two tablets. Facing the viewer front-on, they seem to turn directly towards them with their unfiltered emotions or at least to regard the viewer through the camera as the recipient. One sequence shows a young Asian woman in a simple white top in front of a light grey-beige background, her hair is shaved. Overflowing with tears, she reveals herself to an invisible audience, interspersed with short, impetuous sighs.

»You and Me, A project between Bosnia, Germany and the US« by Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber is a deep and complex body of work about displacement, the Balkan Wars, migration, identity, Germany, USA, religion, and more. But yet, it is also the story of a woman, and her life guides us through all this major, urgent topics. The dummy book is ambitious, extremely well structured, compelling and moving. nakIm Rahmen der Ausstellung »Inintelligibel« hat der NAK Neue Aachener Kunstverein die Künstlerin Katja Stuke am Freitag, 15. Juli um 19:00 zu einem Vortrag eingeladen. Später diskutieren Ben Kaufmann, Maurice Funken und Katja Stuke offene Fragen zum vorgestellten Projekt »Arbeitsstätten« und knüpfen Bezüge zur aktuellen NAK Ausstellung von Angelica Fernandez Ortiz. – In ihrem Vortrag wird Stuke über »Arbeitsstätten« sprechen, eine Fotoarbeit die für die von Sabine Maria Schmidt kuratierte Ausstellung »Vom Wert der Kunst als Wert der Arbeit« entstanden ist und 2016 in Düsseldor im Weltkunstzimmer zu sehen war. mehr»»
